With the passing away of Michael Jackson, it seems like it's the end of an era. The King of pop has been unparalleled in his success, and with easier tools to create music and more ways to distribute music, there's a lot of great music out there - so the market is splintered. I doubt we'll ever see anyone match his level of "success". In quotes because although he was extremely successful in terms of generating genius pop songs and selling them to the masses, he of course was a very troubled individual. He was going to come back with a big tour, but alas it was never meant to be, and it might be for the better - his health seemed to have been failing him for quite some time, and nobody wants to watch as someone gets sicker. His life is a sad tale, but there are happy parts to it, and he goes out like a champion in at least some senses of the term. Most notably, in the music sense!
